Find the nearest puppy mill. They are usually very good at cranking out undersized crap. A BYB might do the trick too.

There's no such thing as a "teacup" chihuahua.

There are no such thing as teacup dogs. They are just runt pups from a litter. Just get a regular chihuahua, they are small enough. The word "Teacup" has been used to merely describe the size of a puppy, meaning it is very small. Their bones are VERY fragile and can be broken by jumping off of a coach, falling off of a bed, being stepped on or worse.

Some of the problems that may be encountered are both genetic and congenital in these tiny babies and the list is a long one.

The risk of open fontanels (soft spot from the cranial bone not forming), portosystemic shunts (PSS- abnormal vessel that allows blood to bypass the liver. As a result the blood is not cleansed by one of the bodies filters: the liver.), hypoglycemia, cardiac problems, collapsing trachea, luxating patellas, Leggs Calves Perthes disease, seizures, hydroencephaly, blindness and digestive problems can be increased in these tiny babies.

Problems such as respiratory problems can remain or worsen throughout their lives. These babies frequently are so fragile that they do not live more than a few years. There have been several tiny Yorkies as adults who still had open fontanels and their owners had to carry nourishment with them all the time. Their vets have felt it unsafe to give a full dose of vaccine so the puppies had to get several injections to be on the safe side.

PLEASE educate yourselves before buying a tiny puppy . You could be in for months or years of heartbreak not to mention staggering veterinarian bills!

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! IF YOU WANT A HEALTHY PUPPY, DON'T FALL FOR THE TEACUP ACT!

Chihuahua standard calls for 2 types. Long coat and short coat. If you go looking for a "teacup" you will end up getting one from a byb, puppy mill or pet store. No reputable breeder sells puppies as teacups.

Look for a breeder in your area that tests for genetic problems and shows his breeding dogs so as you know they reach standard for their breed.

I own 4 Chihuahua's and have had 5. They ranged in size from 7lbs to 2lbs. All from the same breeder. Even my tiny girl was not sold as a "Teacup." In fact the breeder only let me have her because he knows I have experince with the breed. She came from a 5lbs dam and a 4lb sire so she was not bred for a tiny size. That's why even though she is only 2lbs she is strong and very healthy. Anyone who actually applies to him asking for a "teacup" he will not add to his waiting list.

Any pup that reaches that same size at maturity who is sold as a "Teacup" will most likely be sickly and frail. In other words make sure you are very weathy as you will spend a lot of time at the vets office.

there is no such thing as a 'teacup' anything and if you find someone selling puppies and calling them teacups then they are nothing more than a back yard breeder and you should DEFINATLEY not buy a puppy from them.

look on craigslist, or look at your local humane society, there are lots of dogs there in need of homes that would love one…plus their cheaper
