Need advice about a dog?

My ex best friend had 2 English Bulldogs a male and female. His girlfriend used to take care of them and he did nothing. He got into drugs and drinking so i stopped hanging out with him as i am not into that lifestyle. Well he called me today saying he wanted a board game he left at my house back, and he told me he sold the male bulldog my favorite one like 3 days ago. He knew i loved that dog anyways i cant just get a puppy because i live at home and my dad says i cant have one because we have 2 Chihuahuas. My dad heard about this and he said i could keep this dog if i could find it. I think i will call my friend tomorrow and ask for the womans phone number but im a little unsure of what to say to her. I REALLY loved this dog he is a great perfect dog so what are some ways she might sale him to me i am going to offer he $200-$300 more then she paid. Any advice would be a huge help. Thanks.
He is a very friendly dog as is my chihuahuas so that wont be a problem my dad just dont want too many dogs in the house.
