how long do newborn chihuahua puppies have to stay with the mom?

my dog's girlfriend just had puppies [lives with other people] but i dont know when i can take one home with me?

eight weeks is the general age. it's important for the pups to stay with their mother…they can't see, they can't use the bathroom on their own (their bowels are stimulated by the mother's licking) and the mother's milk is the best thing for the puppies right now.

    hmm I think all puppies have to be with their mother for six weeks, then you can take them away..but I'm not utterly sure about that

    Between 9 and 10 weeks of age.. Any earlier than that and your pup will miss out on the learning that goes on between the littermates and interaction w/ mom etc.
    Much better to leave the puppy as long as possible.

    With a tiny breed like chihuahuas it is best to keep the pups with thier moms until they are 9 or 10 weeks old. They grow so slowly that they need extra time with mom. If your friend does a very good job with the pups and the mom is a very good mom then 9 weeks would be ok.

    The puppies needs to stay with the mommy for 8 to 12 weeks. They need to be vet check and their first shots and worming done. So make sure the puppy stays with its mom for 8 weeks before you take her home.

    six weeks would probably be the least but i would recommend eight. Chihuahua puppies are so small and fragile. Most people want one asap but you wouldn't believe how many people take them home, and since they are so small they let the puppies sleep with them. The result isn't usually smushing the puppy it is actually the puppy jumping off of the bed and breaking a leg. If you bring your puppy home early i wouldn't let him get on the furniture for a while for safety purposes.

    At least 8 weeks, but at that age, they are very insecure and can have lasting emotional problems if separated too early. I would wait until 10-12 weeks old.

    All breeds of dog no matter what size need to stay with their mom for at least 8 weeks. this helps a puppy to learn the important things it needs in life such as how to walk & eat solids. You will also be able to train it at a younger age so it will be more experianced.
