My family and I are planning a trip to Disney World in December 2008.?
Any suggestions for what a 5 year old boy should not miss?
you should boycott disney. they are promoters of hate speech by putting jerks like hannity and druggy limbaugh on their radio stations

december great month spent 2 weeks for two years running there. Firstly december is cheap try and get the agent to book flights and accomadation sep, or do it yourself. We got first choice flight better value than flyglobe.
dont take the wee man anywhere near international drive its a bit rough, guys cruising in pimped up cars etc.
the lines in december are like nothing so youll do a park in half a day.
my biggest tip is, go online ang get ….mickeys christmas party tickets for a date when your out there, they only sell so many so the lines are still ok, theres a special parade and fireworks, it will be a late night though prob be at park 6 to 11pm.
enjoy maybe see you there.
and sort out passes online before you go those ticket places only save you a few dollars, better get before hand make sure there the real thing.

We've taken our kids (3 boys) several times. My oldest is now 7 and loves it. His favorites… Toon Town, its in the back. Usually when we get there we immediately jump on the next train which circles the park. Get off at Toon Town. From toon town walk towards the castle. Get on tea cups, carousel, dumbo. Continue towards liberty square but don't forget small world. We like to watch parades in liberty sq / fronteirland. Check the map and parade times. Sometimes they start from fronteirland sometimes from main st. When they start in fronteirland, you can get right back to rides because they pass you first. Splash mountain and big thunder are your call, may be a little too much depending on your son's personality. Next go to adventureland and hit alladin's ride and the jungle cruise. If he's into pirates do the pirates of the caribbean ride.
Other must sees:
Animal Kingdom: Festival of the Lion King, Kilaminjaro safaris, Nemo.
Hollywood Studios : Playhouse disney Live, Fantasmic
Epcot: World showcase can be tough on little legs, lot of walking. My son's don't have any must see favorites at Epcot.
Have fun, enjoy and try to see everything through his eyes.

Been to Disney with kids at least 3-4 times, and another 3 or 4 before kids.
What you should do is get the Disney World DVD. Let him play with it, and give him a little bit of empowerment, and let him 'plan' what you guys do!
He will see lot's of things on the DVD like, Turtle Talk With Crush, and will want to do it!
Everyone involved will have a lot of fun if you go this route!

Hi,
I am also going in December!! My four boys (yes four boys) love everything about Disney. Just go at his pace.
The not-to-be-missed attractions for us are as follows:
Philharmagic
TTA (go figure!)
Buzz Lightyear
All of Fantasyland
Test Track
Soarin'
Indiana Jones Show in the Studios
Stunt Show at the Studios
Safari Ride
Kali River Rapids
I would definitely try to go to at least one character meal – perhaps Chef Mickey's.
Check the site below for more info and planning help. (you will find lots of little tips and opions of my kids)

I would suggest buying the extra event ticket "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party". He will love this. You get to spend extra time in the Magic Kingdom…drink hot chocolate…and eat sugar cookies. The Cosmic Ray's Starlight CafĂ© has something–if I remember right–some activities for younger kids during this event. Your son will love the idea of snow in Orlando, also; they have a snow machine that makes it look like it's snowing in the park. The Pirates of the Caribbean (in front of the ride) there is an actor that looks like Johnny Depp playing Capt. Jack Sparrow that puts on a skit that includes young children in it. If your son loves Winnie-the-Pooh, there is a small playground (w./ a Pooh theme) in back of the castle towards your left…just pass the Ariel's Grotto. In the Animal Kingdom, there is a petting zoo where your son can pet goats, sheep, and donkeys.

Went to Walt Disney World in December of 2006 for my Honeymoon. Loved the "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party" (& watching the young children enjoying themselves at this party).
