How do i keep my 12 week old teacup chihuahua puppy from peeing on my bed durring the night!?

i have a male teacup chihuahua puppy. he is almost 12 weeks old and almost every night i wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning to find he has peed on either my comforter or my sheets. i have to wash my sheets almost daily. Please help!
thanks.
i have a large pillow that makes sure he wont fall off and i could never roll on him because i am so concious of him being there. and i have to put him in a crate while im at school, so putting him there while i sleep makes me feel like im punishing him.

I don't think a dog that small with such tiny fragile bone structure should be sleeping on the bed… If he falls off, he'll likely seriously hurt himself, or you could roll over and smash him. He needs to be set up in a crate, and taken out in the middle of the night to relieve himself.

Dogs are mobile… a large pillow won't keep him safe. All he has to do is walk a few feet. And if you are sleeping, you are not conscious, and can very easily roll over without knowing it.

Look, its up to you of course… but the best thing to do with a dog this size at this age is crate it when unsupervised, including when you sleep, and set your alarm to take him out in the middle of the night if you don't wake up to him whining. Crating is not punishment. your dog should like being in his crate. If you use it as a punishment tool then you are using it wrong. Good luck!

At 12 weeks old I am guessing he is not housebroken, therefore I don't know how you expect him to know not to do that.

Crate train your runt dog and housebreak him. Google potty training or pick up a book on it.

Add: Bully Breeds is miserable! is completely right! LOL!

12 week old puppies are not old enough to have earned the privilege of sleeping on the bed – this is a reward, not a right for dogs. He needs to be housebroken. Look into crate training. Put him in the crate in your room at night.

If you want a reliably housebroken dog, I recommend this method. I've done it twice and it works great.

You should crate him. That’s the easiest way to house-train. I wonder, though, if he just needs to potty…

You do realize that “teacup” is just a term used to discribe a full grown chi that is under four pounds right? You cant possibly know how big or small your dog will end up yet.

You shouldn’t have a dog that small on your bed.You could roll on it or it could fall of and seriously injure itself. You need to keep it in a crate until it is housebroken, and then if you want it to sleep on the bed when it is older, you need to get a set of those doggy stairs for it.

If he is consistently going at a certain time, set your alarm and get up about half an hour earlier and take him out. See the sites listed below for house training hints.
