My parents dog has went into labor but she has not had any puppies. she keeps pushing but isn't really getting anywhere.

This sometimes happens with a strangled uterus or if she needs a C-section.

the first part is contractions, and those from what i remember can go on for a couple hours, but if she hasn't started having puppies by later tonight, you need a vets help.

It would take a long time. Probably hours or even half a day. Other thing may be that she is having trouble. You should take her to a Vet ASAP so that he can give his opinion. Many Chihuahuas need a c-section to be able to have their puppies.
Apuppy could have gotten stuck, and you could be in danger of loosing mom and pups!!!
GO TO THE VET, EVEN IF SHE HAS NO PROBLEMS, SHE COULD NEED HELP LATER!!!!

Please keep an eye on her…small breeds are notorious for not having the 'hips' to get the pups out. You may need to help her coax the pups out manually OR you may need a vet for a c section…. and yes she can die and so can the pups.

It's best to call your vet and find out how long you should let her push before she needs to be seen since it is a small dog.

The problem with BYBs is they never really know what they are getting in to. How long has she been in labor? Teacups are prone to having trouble (and having a very poor stock….if not a dead litter) and a little tiny dog will require a $500 + c-section.
Wait for a while. If one doesn't pop out then you need to see a vet….which may be a good idea anyway since pups can get stuck in the canal and…when you think she's done…the stuck pup may die and cause all sorts of problems.

It's quite common for teacups to need c-sections, you should call your vet and see what they think.
If you wait too long it could kill her and the pups.

You could try leaving her ALONE for about 20 minutes. You all could me making her nervous with too much interference.
Or you could glove up and lubricate your finger with K-Y and see if something is blocking the birth canal or cervix such as a puppy that is not coming right.
If you do this then she will need to be on antibiotics because you have invaded and introduced germs into an area that is sensitive to germs.
If this doesn't sound appealing get her to the vets asap! They will take x-rays or ultrasound and determine what is going on.
If some time and oxytocin won't work and a C-section is needed have her spayed at the same time.
I say this because usually if bred again they will continue to have problems birthing and will have to have C-sections again and again.
If expense is a concern call around to get pricing on the c-section possibility.

OMG ! Get that dog in to the vet's IMMEDIATELY or she will die !
1. There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua
2. You should never ever breed a tiny female
3. You shouldn't be breeding dogs when there are so many being killed in the shelters.
GET THAT DOG IN TO THE VET'S NOW !. SHE IS SUFFERING, SHE WILL DIE!
ps. get her spayed when the vet performs the c-section to save her life.
There should be NO QUESTION about the expense. Your parents saw fit to buy this dog and then to let her become pregnant, so it is their responsibility to now take care of the mess they have created. How can you possibly let this poor little girl suffer ?????????
GET HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY
