I would like to find a breeder who is legit, and doesnt over produce thier puppies or breed mother son, or runs aa puppy mill.
Does anyone know of a good chihuahua breeder in new jersey new york or connecticut?
dog is my co pilot -> hahaha about the if i want a teacup anything i should get a hamster. ![]()
btw im not looking for a teacup chihuahua for fashion purposes, i wanted a smaller dog since i travel alot and want to be able to bring the dog with my in the cabin instead of having suffer in the cargo.
You won't find a legit breeder that produces teacup anything. ALL Chihuahuas are tiny.
Teacup dogs come from Back Yard Breeders and Pet Stores(aka Puppy Mills).
http://stoppuppymills.org
As for the top poster, that is a commercial breeding business, and reeks Puppy Mill. "Feel free to see the showroom"…Bull. You should feel free to see the WHOLE PLACE. Not just where they show and tell the puppies. See the parents, contracts, health contracts, etc.

Any breeder that claims to breed anything “teacup” or “mini” is not a reputable breeder.
One, they aren’t accepted by any kennel clubs.
Two, minis and teacups run a huge risk of diseases.

Anyone who breeds TEACUP anything ISN’T A GOOD BREEDER.
You will never find a Teacup, mini, micro anything anywhere but a puppymill or backyard breeder.
If you want a chihuahua that fits the breed standard, and is bred for quality to improve the standard and produce champions, then you need to view the Chihuahua Breed Parent Club.
NOT the AKC website.
If you’re looking for simply a companion, you can ADOPT a dog from a shelter or rescue.

I consider adoption from rescues and buying from breeders.
If you want a ‘teacup’ anything you should check into another species of animal. Perhaps a hamster

Teacup? You can get those from Backyard breeders and Puppy mills who don’t care if the puppy is sick and just want your money.

You don’t “adopt” from a breeder, you buy.
No breeder who says they sell “teacup” anything is legitimate, they breed sickly undersize runts.
Chihuahuas are in the toy group – small by nature, why would you be looking for one purposely bred to be a runt?
Too much Paris Hilton and her ilk seems to have warped people’s conception of what a dog is – it’s a companion, not a fashion accessory.
Try a chihuahua rescue – do an online search for one in your area, or try Petfinder.com – that way you know what you are getting a give a homeless dog a good home instead of encouraging more bad breeding just for a few bucks.
Puppy mills and back yard breeders are the only people who would EVER advertise “teacup” any breed – no matter how cute the website is, it’s a byb or miller – no reputable breeder would need to advertise like that.

No good, legit breeder will sell a “teacup” chihuahua, as they don’t exist! I’m going to give you the same answer as every other good dog lover will: there is no such thing as a “teacup”- they are just undersized dogs, which come from runts bred with runts. This produces an unhealthy dog, which will bring you nothing but expensive vet bills & heartache when it dies much younger than your well-bred “normal” dog!
Many shelters have chihuahuas, and they’re MUCH cheaper than buying from a breeder. Plus, you get the added bonus of saving a life!

The airplane thing is no excuse for wanting a “teacup” dog. My wife has a 6lb yorkie (which is in the standard yorkie range) and a airplane approved crate for him. We have taken him on three plane trips in the cabin without a problem.
Chihuahuas are small enough. Dont perpetuate the stupidity of teacup dogs. Research any dog you want to get before you commit to an animal. You will find that teacup dogs are small sick runts.

There are no legit breeders breeding teacup chihuahuas. They don’t come in ‘ teacup ‘ It’s a term made up to get people to buy their small sickly runts, and pay them huge amounts of money. Buy from a breeder that breeds to the standard. Chis are small dogs anyhow, why would you want a small sickly runt .. they aren’t meant to be that small. There are standards for a reason.

A regular Chi would fit your purposes nicely. Even some other small breeds can travel with you, depending on the plane and company. I’ve seen a Maltese is cabin once, a Papillon, and what looked like a Chi.
Teacup is a fancy term for runt, and any “breeder” selling them is not the kind you want to do business with. They tend to inbreed and breed runts to runts, which can create all sort of health problems.
Why don’t you try adopting an adult dog from a shelter? An adult dog would be fully grown so you would know for SURE that they won’t get too big (some “runts” are known to grow to regular size or larger.) Or try a breed specific rescue.
